What To Do Whenever You Feel Stuck

A liberating 3 part self-review that frees you from that icky state of feeling ‘stuck’

Ok - I confess…

OS29090.JPGDespite being the author of the Life Direction Clarifier, I still have times of feeling stuck with my life…

In fact, the Life Direction Clarifier evolved out of my own desperate search and struggle with deep feelings of frustration that used to ‘consume’ me.

I’m leaps and bounds better now, but being human I am emotional, forgetful, and growing all the time.

I still have moments when I feel a bit overwhelmed, or directionless, or like I need a quick mental tune-up.

And there’s nothing wrong with that.

I’ve tested various ways of doing a quick ‘self-review’, and have found what works best for me personally, whenever I feel ‘kinda overwhelmed’, or frustrated with something.

There are just 3 Headings for the Stuck-State Self-Review, and they are:

  • Frustrations
  • Weaknesses to consider
  • Skills development and actions

Take a sheet of paper or open a new computer file and write the words Frustrations, Weaknesses, and Actions.

List out your current frustrations, and go into as much detail as feels right (for 'getting things off your chest').

Then turn it on yourself by considering your own weaknesses that are supporting these frustrating predicaments in your life right now.

I.e. what could you improve about your own choices that could alleviate the frustrations.

Finally, jot down a few 'next step actions' that can practically move you forwards towards changing those weaknesses and reducing those frustrations.

I hope that doesn't seem too simplistic.  I could have given you a whole great shpeal about how it's your old aunt maries fault that your boss doesn't like you, and that you need to 'set goals' and say positive affirmations whilst staring at yourself in the mirror every morning.

Phooey to all that non-sense.

Here's the real-deal:

Just list out your 1. frustrations, 2. weaknesses, and 3. actions… whenever you get into a 'stuck state', and I can almost guarantee you'll immediately start feeling better, and have practical ways to improve things.
