Have you ever noticed that a new interest can suddenly make you lose track of many important things?
And no, I haven't got a new lover. (So keep sending in those applications ladies!).
New in my life is a major marketing client. I'm working night and day to piece together a huge marketing plan, and one of the side benefits is that I'm able to delve deeper into project management and cool productivity web 3.0 technologies.
So here's a little update…
Flock from www.flock.com, is a new web brower that easily connects you to various social web 2.0 tools such as flickr, twitter, YouTube, and also rss feeds, and much more. Definitely worth checking out if you're keen on the latest modern Internet connectivity tools.
Install it and use it along side Firefox or Internet Explorer and see how it goes. Leave me comments on the blog to share your experience.
I'm also currently working on a new feature quiz for getting organized which will be ready for the New Year.
My son has asked me for help in dealing with job pressures from "all the stuff landing on my plate right now." (He's a demographics specialist for a homebuilder.) Anyway, it appears that prioritization and organization skills enhancement are in order here. With that in mind, I'd like to purchase your program for him … how could we make that work? I look forward to hearing from you later today or tomorrow when I check my Outlook Express. Mom

Hey there Super Mom!
I assume your son is not yet managing a team. Let me know when he is.
For the time being there are 2 programs that I can suggest that he use.
http://timemanagementsystemlatt
http://www.organizedr.com is a very simple to implement step by step process that makes it real easy to organize projects.
So decide on what's best to start him on, and let me know how he gets on.
If you have any particular questions then please feel very welcome to email me.

Web 3.0 Definition 1
Recently appeared at a conference was the following brief description of the Web X.0's thus far:
Web 1.0: You
Web 2.0: We
Web 3.0: Me
I really like[d] that. Simple, clear and accurate. In line with my early 2007 identification that Web 3.0 could be the dawn of a new Efficiency Era.
So…
Web 3.0 Definition 2
Is my own definition.
Web 3.0 = Productivity (a long word), Efficiency (an abstract word) (orMe (a concrete simple word)). This is about personalizing the web: Web 3.0 = Personalization. I.e. it's all about 'me'.
Another note worthy definition I found:
Web 3.0 Definition 3
1.0 was information
2.0 was participation
3.0 is collaboration
I don't agree with this one. Web 2.0 has been crystalised as the 'social collaboration' era. Which fits far more with the idea of 'we' as per definition 1.
Web 2.0 is both participation and collaboration, indeed they are synonyms.
Someone expressed this as: you and me working with anyone, everyone using tools that help us cross boundaries and increase conversation and collaborative action.
Then another development:
Web 3.0 Definition 4
1. You (or maybe Them is better?)
2. Me
3. We (or as Jean Russell said collaboration)
Look at the idea for Web 1.0. I do really like the Web 1.0 label of 'them'. It's more isolationist, which characterises the evolution of the web into web 2.0 (collaboration) and web 3.0 (personalization/'me').
Web 3.0 Definition 5
So my own variation on the excellent ideas above is my concluding Web 2.0 definition:
Web 1.0: Them (information)
Web 2.0: Us (collaboration)
Web 3.0: Me (personalization)
First there was static html websites, created about 'them', other people, some company sites, etc.
Then we evolved into web 2.0, that of collaboration, or 'we'.
Now comes Web 3.0 for efficiency and productivity… all about 'me, me, me'
And I will hazard an extension into the as yet untold topic of Web 4.0. When I have organized 'me', become efficient, productive, and have things organized in my life and on my web the way I want it, then, and only then, can I really be wholly interested in You. Web 4.0 will be characterized by the focus on 'you'.
Thus my concluding defintions of Web X.0:
Web 1.0 = Them
Web 2.0 = Us
Web 3.0 = Me
Web 4.0 = You
What do you think?
2 popular personal productivity software programs which are FREE and online (see web 3.0) are:
Which is better? Which do I use and recommend?
Both use the principles of Getting Things Done (GTD), but one is extremely simple, and the other is more 'advanced'.
If you have read my free report on how to have a natural time management system, then you know I'm not a fan of 'advanced' personal productivity software.
Why? Because they usually do not work. Whether through laziness, distraction, or complication, they just end up not being used.
Zirrus on the other hand is really really simple. If you are just starting out with daily tak management and personal productivity software tools, then I highly recommend you start with Zirrus.
Once you are up and running with it, using it regularly to keep track of one-off tasks that you ned to do, or using it as a placeholder for the key word of a bigger project you need to work on, then and only then would I suggest you take a look at Remember The Milk.
Remember The Milk can be used quite simply, which is good. But it can easily lead you into the same traps of bad time management systems such as prioritizing tasks and scheduling tasks to time such as using a weekly to do list.
Again, get my free report on natural time management systems to find out the real breakthroughs that hav been made in unleashing your time management skill.
Only once you have the understanding given in that report, will you be able to cross the mindfield in Remember The Milk to use it wisely for good time management and personal productivity.
I love the evolution of Web 3.0 Productivity tools. Ya just gotta keep you're guard up, because the same old mistakes can still be made even with fancy new software.
Do you battle with this same 3-point triangle of confusion, emotion, and discipline that I do?
Emotion – life's purpose is happiness which is an emotion, but if I do everything that makes' me 'happy', I'll be fat, unhealthy, lazy, and probably arrested.
So the 2nd part of this triangle relationship is Discipline. Which means battling my procrastination and laziness to harness my logic and effort to do what will really make me the most happy in the long run, even if it's difficult, boring or unfulfilling in the short-term.
And the confusion to know when to go with the flow vs when to stick to my productivity guns and get to work.
How do you decide when to rest, when to relax, when to enjoy, and when to push ever forwards, onwards and upwards with productivity?
Modern Organized Living means finding the right balance between the 2 keys to success: Productivity, and Enjoyment!
A difficult lesson for me is that as an emotional human I really can not stay efficiently productive for as long as I would like to, without reflecting on my values and my happiness, which should come through time spent with significant people.
My ideal lifestyle is to be torn between my work and a woman that can handle (manage) me… to be teased by those 2 main parts of my life.
Oh where for art though Juliete!
That thee may keep me on upon the narrow bridge productivity, effort, and success.
If you want to know the secrets of mind power and control then they are yours. Or perhaps you want a logical approach for how to organize your life.
You
can build a 3 dimensional view of everything in your brain that you want to, and include everything that is not in your brain, that you wish it was.
In fact, on my tiny short list of personal productivity software that I actually like, this is firmly on that list.
It's PersonalBrain 4.0 and I just found a nice video and explanation of it on another blog here.
If you are interested in personal productivity software, then absolutely check this out right this minute and grab a copy of the free download for PersonalBrain.

Items 7 and 10 at 10 more future web trends are both fascinating and alarming.
With such things as spontaneous brain uploads of 1000 blog posts, and sensory integration with virtual realities, what should we call the technological new world we are forever entering?
Web marketers and bloggers are familiar with the term web 2.0, and also web 3.0.
Semantic Focus asks the question where do you stand on web 3.0.
I think technological definitions are useful for contextual landscaping, which is perfectly ok to be subject to change.
Web 2.0 means social networking, and related technologies.
Web 3.0 means Internet based productivity and efficiency.
When you think about all the related technologies, those 2 simple clear cut definitions really do seem to be useful and valid.
And web 3 efficiency is the only way that the advancing web technologies will be useable on a day by day basis by us mere mortals.
Well, until we get rid of the only blockage to us becoming god-men that is.. What's the block? What's holding us back? See www.survival2020.com for the battle between government and tech.
Feature Article By yours truly, Nathan Shaw.
11 years I obsessed over getting organized.
Then in 2006 I realized it was the wrong way to go about things. I will explain everything… and it will probably change the way you live:
Personal productivity has become all the rage, from Franklin Day Planners to Getting Things Done with David Allen… modern life is so fast paced full with options and choices.
And today I read this about a Professional Organizer and her client..
"…together they purged her office of unnecessary clutter, set up a system of file folders and discussed strategies that would allow Mohan to make decisions more quickly. Not only is Mohan's desk spotless, but her files are so organized she can delegate more work to her assistant. The cost of Hemphill's consultation: $5,000. "It was outrageously worth it," says Mohan.
$5,000! And yet still 'outrageously worth it'. See even high level business folk with money to burn and no time to… burn it are 1. incapable of knowing how to get organized without help and 2. can appreciate the value of getting that help.
But maybe your pockets aren’t as deep, or perhaps you prefer to do a few simple things take measures right now to get better organized before becoming so disorganized that your only course of action is to pay through the nose for professional organizer assistance.
And here's what I discovered for myself in 2006. Getting organized is impossible! And it's also not even important.
What’s really matters with regards organized living?. Forget about getting, being or staying organized. Simple example: As soon as you use the kitchen to make dinner, you've made a mess.
Surely life is meant to be lived, and our environment is meant to be lived in, which means it has to be organized just enough to be functional and enjoyable.
What I re-discovered at the end of 2006, in a word, is efficiency. I came across an old 1920s business course on efficiency from the Emerson Institute of Efficiency. The concept of efficiency seems to have been lost until the rise of the latest Web 3.0 technologies in favor of ‘getting organized’. And finally after some 90 years, we have come to realize getting organized doesn’t work.
And here's what economist Mark Zandi of Moody's Economy.com said about how to manage time, which points in the direction of efficiency as being way beyond 'organized':
"I just can't physically find another spare moment to do more, so I've reached the point where I need to ration what I do, or do what I do better".
With his BlackBerry, laptop and mobile phone, demands on his time and productivity exceed the available time.
I use the phrase ‘organized living’ a lot in my articles, only because the word ‘organized’ is still such a buzz word. But really it should be ‘efficient living’.
Organized… or Efficient means being efficient enough to get done what you want to get done, find time to enjoy yourself, and let the rest go to hell, for you needn't sweat the small stuff, right?
Through the collapse of the ‘getting organized’ straw man, some have taken up the opportunity to proclaim that chaos is better than order.
The mess-for-success advocates like Abrahamson and Freedman say that turning your life over to any "system" has a downside.
Well, what do you think about that? It doesn't stand to reason, it doesn't hold water…
And even Abrahamson, the advocate of messiness, has found he can't manage his time wisely without putting every appointment in his Outlook calendar, which he syncs to his handheld computer AND his wristwatch!
So I admit it sounds cool, that being messy and living via chaos is the solution to the get organized problem of our times, but…
Please make permanent note in your thinking that the true distinction I teach is Organized Living means more about being efficient than getting organized, because order helps successful living and happiness, despite getting organized being impossible.
So strike the balance of flexibly arranging your life and things important to you. So my friend, that is the goal of Organized Living.
