Business Management
Business Management covers many areas. Performance Management. Project Management. Team Management. Operational management. Office Management. It just goes on and on.
Organized Living world barely scratches the surface, but what we do cover here, is pure gold.
Cognos proposes 8 Business Management Functions:
- Product Development
- Operations
- Human Resources
- IT/Systems
- Customer Services
- Marketing
- Sales
- Finance
And in an MBA business text book I read of 3 management areas:
- Strategy
- Tactics
- Operations
Strategy means your overall approach of what you are going to do to accomplish your business objectives.
Tactics are the specifics of HOW you are going to implement the strategy.
And operations are the detailed management of tasks to execute the tactics.
Each of the 8 business functions listed above would have it's own strategy, which have tactics, which lead to operations.
Now quite frankly that's all kind of boring.
So on the one hand we have the dry educational acadmics of 'business management', which does help to give us guidance and structure to how we approach business management, and beyond that we have to succeed with genuine back-to-the-wall application of these concepts.
By finding short-cuts to manage those 3 areas, you can jump to highly effective business management, and you'll not have to spend countless hours in training for 'total quality management' etc.
So let's approach business management 100% practically.
